抽象：设计的艺术第二季

Best episode of the season! Simply mind blowing! Only if more young generation architects are willing to pursue architecture through exploring, experiencing and engaging all available and applicable sources. And unlocking the possibility and imagination through architecture. Instead of making Instagram-worthy architecture.

昨天终于很认真地看完了第一集Abstract。

里面有一小段Olafur关于how and why的讨论。

不要为了how而忘记why。

Why are you here？

Why are you doing this？

不是所有创作者都在自己的创作里寻找意义。世界上有很多人会画出很好看的画，写出很有趣的文章，好听的歌，甚至是非常有创意的设计，但他们并不都会成为伟大的艺术家。

我想寻找作品背后的意义是一个很大的不同点。作为一个创作者，你创作的出发点在于表达，还是记录，还是号召，还是单纯的刺激人的兴奋点，创造收入；以及作品所表达的，是怎样的观念，想从什么角度和观众产生共情；这些都是很重要的选择。

这些思考又让我想到林老师。他对待自己作品的认真，很大程度上也体现了他对实现WHY的执着。当开始有一个idea，一个构想，就尽全力实现自己的最初想表达的感觉。从新地球开始，可以明显听出来更多艺术性，更多抽象的概念，这也意味着花更多的时间和精力，去把概念性的想法具体化。也必然承担很多“好像没那么好听”的争议。因为对艺术性的欣赏是需要默契的。像是我对你说阳光很美，你说今天晒死了，我们彼此都觉得对方很无聊，因为看待事物的角度不同。

带出一点更深的思考，比如行事为人，其背后的目的性要比世界眼光中的成功与否更重要。怎样创作自己的一天，在于自己对人生intention的态度。可以随便过也在别人眼里过得很好，也可以仔细做选择，像挑选编曲中的每一个音色，设计中的每一种材质；尽管这样的选择或许无法讨好大部分人，但可以引起思考和讨论。

艺术很自由。所以做选择显得更难，也更关键。

印象深刻的几个Quote:

On the development processes of stand-up comedians and how they put together an act: “You hear about how iterative the process is.” “They may work on the same bit multiple times a night, telling the jokes in a slightly different way, taking that feedback until its tuned.”

On navigating the world as a minority, someone different: “There can be both a high bar and a low bar for you. You are in situations where people dont expect a lot from you, but at the same time, the price for failure seems very, very high. Sometimes you can use that as motivation, to go above amd beyond, to lrove something. Other times it can be kind of crushing, doubt yourself. i think that helps build my sense of empathy for people.” 这是这一集令我最有同感的一段话。特别特别同意。

记录我个人比较喜欢的作品

第一集：Olafur Eliasson， 艺术家，建筑设计师

A lot of color projects using yellow light. He likes bringing nature phenomenon to public: weather project, rainbow, waterfall under booklyn bridge, ice melting watch.

Art is the world's ability to investigate and have an intimate relationship with itself.

Do not take your surroundings for granted! Even sunlight looks different in each country.

我还记得三年前instagram换logo的时候吐槽过，原来就是你设计的呀 lol

很喜欢他公司网站主页的设计，还有他们设计的Discover Typography这个网站也很棒.

第二季終，本季感受是有在努力diversity

Black Panther的Costume Designer 确实是在dress a culture 设计出了humanity & emotionality

而最感人的是她丈夫被shot之后 她grieving之后的那首诗（我猜是她自己写的 介于她那么喜欢poem）整个画面的剪辑风格和Wes Anderson的Moonrise Kingdom开头非常像 很喜欢这个宣言 特别empowering

We have this running joke: Where the choice of font is no less impoertant than the choice of a cell whose genes are being hacked. And in the end, great fonts will help create great genomes and vice versa.

The discovery of its innocence is its loss.
